What’s Your Skin Type?
This is just a basic quiz and it is not comprehensive. Please seek out an esthetician for an appropriate skin analysis.

Combination skin consists of two skin types. typically, with this skin type, some areas of the face such as the cheeks are dry, while others such as the nose and chin (known as the T-zone) tend to have oilier and more blemished skin.
Target oily areas with gels and liquids. Soothe dry areas with light lotions and serums. It takes some experimenting to find the perfect combination skincare routine, but the simplest approach is to opt for lightweight treatment products in a liquid, gel or thin lotion texture that you can apply all over your face, and then layer a richer hydrator just over the dry areas. This way your entire face reaps the benefits of the superstar ingredients of your treatment products and your skin gets extra hydration where you need it most.
Another way to treat combination skin is to apply different products on your oily zones versus dry parts of your skin. Specifically, using oil-absorbing, matte-finish formulas on the oily areas and richer moisturizing formulas in the drier areas. A great example of this is “multi-masking” by using an oil-absorbing charcoal mask over your shine-prone areas and a moisturizing mask over the dry parts of your face.

As a result, dry skin lacks what it needs to retain moisture and build a protective shield. The best remedies include limiting bath time, bathing in hot water, applying moisturizer right after a bath, and using a humidifier. Nourish your skin with lotions and creams. Steer clear of irritating ingredients. Also, incorporate hydrating serums, toners, and essence. End your skincare routine with a noncomedogenic oil.

Ditch harsh, drying formulas because they actually trigger more oil production! Ingredients like SD alcohol or denatured alcohol may make your skin feel less oily at first, but in the long run, they only make matters worse, causing your skin to produce more oil. Avoid products with ingredients that make your skin tingle (like menthol, mint, and eucalyptus). Toss out bar soaps and thick lotions/creams. They tend to clog pores or exacerbate oiliness.

It’s imperative that your sensitive skin care routine includes gentle ingredients proven to strengthen and defend the skin. All products in your routine should also be 100% fragrance-free, as the fragrance is a major trigger for sensitive skin. To start, you need a sensitive skin face wash with mild cleansing agents that cushion skin while removing makeup and oil.
After cleansing, sensitive skin toners play a critical role by replenishing skin with soothing antioxidants (including green tea) and proven skin-calming agents (such as oatmeal).
