TWICE Members Profiles: 10 things you should know about this K pop group

Twice Members is an all-girl K pop group that has taken the music world by storm.  K-pop refers to a genre of music that derived from South Korea and was first made popular by the Seo Taiji Boys in the 1990s, then later on by the TVXQ and BOA in 2003.Twice Member has joined EXO and other groups in the catchy lyrics and killer dance moves that have become the signature of this international sensation known as K pop music.

They're new to the game.
On October 20th, 2015, Twice Members made their debut on the reality show "SIXTEEN" which was featured on Mnet, a South Korean television channel. The girls competed against other young women before being selected as part of the nine finalists that would form this all girl group. These young women are not only from South Korea but also from Taiwan and Japan. Twice Members is being managed by the South Korean company, JYP Entertainment.The official name of their fandom is called ONCE. The group took to social media to release the name, stating that "If you love us even once, we'll repay you with TWICE our love."

….but they're popular.
TWICE did not hesitate to steal the hearts of just about every youngster. According to the Global Music Report by The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the record, "Cheer Up," by TWICE, was the most popular K pop song. Also, their 2017 hit song, "Knock Knock" ranked number one for several weeks in March 2017 on Soompi K-pop Music Chart. In Thailand, Hong Kong, Sweden, Singapore, it ranked within the top 10 in these countries and several others."Knock Knock" is the lead single off the group's extended play – "‘TWICEcoaster: Lane 2," which scored high in Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan when it ranked as #1 on iTunes Album Charts in those countries.

TWICE sets the record.
Twice Member is a girl group that has become a global phenomenon in a short space of time. In 2017 alone, they won 33 wins at music shows. By doing so, they set the record for receiving the most wins at music shows within one year.Also, according to Forbes magazine, TWICE is "the first-ever K-pop girl group to simultaneously top both Billboard's World Albums and World Digital Song Sales Chart." Impressive!

TWICE'S  2018 single, "What is love?" was listened to by over 63,000 people within the first hour of its release. This is slightly higher than the 61,000 listens their previous song "Likey" got within its first hour. "What is love" was also definitely a hit on Youtube, ranking in its top 30 and garnered over 9 million views in less than 12 hours.

Their genre is one of a kind.
The sound associated with Twice Members is known as "Color Pop." The unique blend is upbeat and catchy and will fuse man genres together to create the unique sound that's been dominating the airwaves. Their music will be rooted in bubblegum pop but will be influenced by jazz, electronica and even rap.

They're just superstars with a regular appetite.
Jeongyeon loves potato chips and Dahyun is definitely a chocolate lover. Meanwhile, Jihyo and Chaeyoung are a bit different- Jihyo does not eat raw food and Chaeyoung loves mangoes. Momo likes pig feet, Nayeon likes jellies while Tzuyu loves bread and Mina likes snacks.

Tzuyu is the youngest member.
At 19 years of age, Chou Tzuyu is the youngest member of the and who got one year closer to 20 on June 14th of this year. The other girls are between the ages of 20-22 years old.

They're an experienced bunch.
Park Jihyo-  This is the stage name of Park Ji Soo-  a twenty-one-year-old Korean national and the leader and main vocalist of Twice Members. She has been a trainee of JYP Entertainment for ten years and was voted leader of the group by the other female members.Nayeon-Nayeon is the 22-year-old lead vocalist and the face of the group. Nayeon is not a newbie to the music industry and has appeared in the video for "Only You" by miss A's, GOT7's" Girls Girls Girls," and "Please Don't Go' by San E.Jungyeon: Twenty-two-year-old Jungyeon was born Yoo Kyung Wan on November 1st, 1996. This lead vocalist has also appeared in miss A's "Only You" and GOT7's" Girls Girls Girls."Momo- Japanese singer, Hirai Momo, known as "Momo" for short, is a rapper and vocalist and the main dancer for Twice Members. This 22-year-old was also featured in a GOT7'S video' "Stop Stop it."Sana- Vocalist and lead dancer, Sana, was born as Minatozaki Sana in Tennōji-Ku, Osaka, Japan. This December born ranked at number 21 in "100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2017."Mina-  Myoui Mina is also a lead dancer and vocalist of the group. This Japanese national was in Junho's "Feel" music video.Dahyun- Kim Da Hyun originates from Korea and is a lead rapper and vocalist as well. She was a South Korean singer in Wooyoung's music video for his song, "Rose."Chaeyoung-  Twenty-year-old Son Chae Young stands at only 5 feet three inches tall and is a main rapper and vocalist of Twice Members. Lastly, Tzuyu is a vocalist and also serves as the face of the group, along with Nayeon.

One billion and counting.
As of November 7th, 2017, the combined total of views for TWICE's music videos was one billion. The videos for "Cheer up," "Knock Knock" "Like OOH-AHH," " Likey," " TT" and "Signal" are responsible for this mega success.

TWICE has been in the midst of political controversy.
It all started when Taiwanese national, Tzuyu appeared on the online show," My Little Television," and was seen waving a flag of The Republic of China (Taiwan) and a Korean flag. She immediately received backlash from Huang An, a Taiwanese singer. Soon, the then 16-year-old was caught up in a political ruckus which ultimately affected Twice Members. Their managing company, JYP, suffered in the stock market, their appearances at events were canceled and Tszyu's partnership with Huawei was suspended.
