Should you try skiing or snowboarding?
How are you picturing your first day out on the slopes?
Lots of falling, but lots of fun :)
Working hard to learn a new sport
Having a good time with friends
Relaxing in the great outdoors
Who are you heading to the mountain with?
Other beginners who are content to take it easy on the beginner trails
Other beginners who are learning with me and who are expecting to hit some more advanced trails pretty quickly
Experienced skiers/riders who are going to take it slow and help me learn
Experienced skiers/riders I need to be able to keep up with!
It's gonna be a solo trip!
Thoughts on taking lessons?
I think I’ll be fine without one.
I'll take one, sure.
Maybe a few in the beginning.
Regular lessons to help refine technique
Okay, let’s say you take a lesson. Five seconds into it, you immediately fall on your face. Your reaction:
Ouch. I expected this to be easy!
Haha, that was hilarious!
Oof, I’m going to need a minute to recover. But then I’ll give it another shot.
What? No. If I fall, I'm heading back to the lodge!
The best part about learning something new is:
Getting it right on the first try—I’m a natural!
Overcoming obstacles to succeed in the end
Gradually refining your technique to achieve mastery
Being creative and putting your own twist on it
How scared are you?
Just excited. 100%.
A little nervous.
I don’t really want to go, but my friends/family are making me.
SCARED. Very scared.
Are you going to wear waterproof snow pants to the mountain?
Um, no. I have jeans. Isn't that good enough?
I just have sweatpants, but it’s fine. I don’t care how wet my butt gets in them!
Yes, I have snow pants.
Why are you asking this? You think I’m going to be getting my butt all wet? NO!
WOW, this all sounds terrible. But if I had to choose one, I'd pick:
Having to repeatedly get up and sit down and get up and fall down and bend over and then bend over again…
Carrying a lot of stuff, swinging it around, and almost hitting people with it, then dropping it. And then later losing it on the mountain and having to walk uphill to retrieve it.
I guess either of these is okay... as long as it's not too often...
Okay, this is also bad. But if necessary, I could totally handle:
Almost doing a split a few times throughout the day
Doing the equivalent of a few burpees every hour
Now that we've got you thinking about it... which are you leaning towards?
SKIING
SNOWBOARDING
... skiing?
... snowboarding?
What? I'm taking this quiz because I don't know!
Welcome to snowboarding!
Welcome to the club, future snowboarder! Baggy clothes are optional these days, but having fun remains an important requirement.
Grab a board and get out there! We're sure you'll be turning heads with your sick skills in no time at all!

You're a skier at heart!
Elegant turns, gorgeous mountain views... and maybe even some moguls one day? You are SO ready! Grab a lift ticket and some rentals, and get out on the slopes! Your new favorite winter hobby awaits!
Hmmm.... start with skiing!
Is that the answer you were hoping for?
Skiing is a sport that you can enjoy for your entire life, so what are you waiting for? Grab a lift ticket and get out there!
That said, snowboarding is a lot of fun too. Maybe give snowboarding a try next?

Okay... maybe try snowboarding?
It sounds like you have what it takes to be a great snowboarder, so give it a try! Just keep in mind that snowboarding is harder at first for the majority of people, so don't get discouraged if progress seems slow on your first day (or two, or three!). You'll be shredding the gnar before you know it!
That said, if you find that you don't like it, feel free to give skiing a try! They're both great sports.
