How important is abortion rights to you in choosing candidates and party affiliations?

The Democratic Party has recently raised concerns among progressive voters for embracing candidates that either oppose abortion rights entirely or who seek to limit a women’s right or access to abortions. Anti-abortion stances have historically belonged to the Republican Party, so these practices have made some Democrats wonder if their party has moved too far to the right.

To add more confusion to the politics of abortion rights GOP Senators Lisa Murkowski (AK) and Susan Collins (ME) have recently bucked their party’s efforts to defund Planned Parenthood: who provides women’s health services including abortions, but federal funds are not spent to their abortion procedures.

What do you think? Do you think political parties should have unequivocal positions on abortion rights or should that be left to individual candidates? Is abortion rights a make or break issue for you?

No. I think positions on abortion rights are a personal, moral issue and candidates should be free to choose their own position regardless of their party.
