There hasn't always been harmony amongst the Courts of the Fae. Long ago, the horrors of war plagued the lands far and wide. For years it seemed an impossible dream to put differences aside and allow for peace. Each court held firmly to their way of life, ideals, and beliefs and feared relenting in battle would mean one court would reign supreme. This was the way, until one day, three adventurers from a far-away land changed everything.
These strange adventurers were fierce protectors, unmatched in strength and bravery. The warrior, mage, and druid traveled through the Wilds, getting to know each of the four Courts. They found immense beauty and sorrow everywhere they went. It was also evident that if the wars continued much longer, it could destroy them all. The adventurers saw an opportunity to unite the courts, so they hatched a plan.
Seeing the widespread desperation, the adventurers proposed an annual tournament. Each court would elect a hero, and the four heroes of the Courts would compete against the strange adventurers. If a hero could defeat all three adventurers, that Court would win the battle and become leader of the Wilds for the next year. The adventurers would return each year for another tournament, giving each Court the opportunity to produce the greatest hero. What the Courts didn't know was that this adventuring group had other plans for the outcome of the tournament.
All agreed to the tournament and it was the biggest event the Wilds had ever seen. It was the first time all the Courts gathered peacefully in one place. Each was hopeful that their Court would be the best, but one by one, the strange adventurers defeated them all. After besting the last hero, the three adventurers standing victorious, to the crowd's surprise, the heroes from all four Courts banded together and proposed one last fight.
The Battle of the Fae and the Adventurers is now regarded as the most important day in the history of the Fae Wilds. For the first time, the four Courts of the Fae saw the strength and beauty of their forces united. The battle was long and no one was sure who would come out victorious. They didn't realize it, but unifying the Courts was the adventurers' plan all along. Together, the Courts defeated the adventurers to cacophonous cheers.
Because of the tournament, the Courts were finally able to come together and end the wars. Since that day, they continue to hold annual tournaments, not for power, but for celebration of unity. Each year, the Courts search far and wide across the realms to find their hero. Fae Masquerade is this annual celebration and tournament. And if you have what it takes, you may just be the next hero of the Fae Wilds.

You are a guest of the Court of the Flowering Field!
The Court of the Flowering Field is a society of growth and renewal, light and life. Its members practice natural magic and create songs of inspiration and happiness.
Homes in the flowering field are built into hills or in the midst of flourishing meadows, where butterflies flutter and bees buzz, pollenating blooms as far as the eye can see. The air is heady with the scents of pollen and grass, filled with birdsong, plucked lute strings, and gentle wind. Cherry blossoms tilt lazily through the air, never seeming to fall.
You might find a fae of the Flowering Field drinking mead at a small garden party, tending to a patch of vegetables, or setting out across the land with a bag and a gnarled staff, searching for more wonderful places in the wild.
You are a guest of the Court of the Burning Sands!
The Court of Burning Sands is home to many outgoing and adventurous heroes of the Fae Realm.
A sprawling desert scattered with active and bustling oasis settlements, the largest of these is the enormous Glass City, where fae of all kinds gather to form adventuring parties, relax by the water after being away, and buy and sell weapons, armor, and wares before getting back on the endless road to glory. The rolling dunes extend in all directions, and shimmering mirages form and vanish in the sweltering air, tempting those with dreams of great treasure and valor.
This court’s folk are gregarious and friendly, but also intensely loyal and protective of those with whom they have bonded. They are always ready to set out for places unknown and to fight for their honor.
You are a guest of the Court of the Falling Leaves!
The Court of Falling Leaves is hidden in the hollowed trunks and shady canopies of an enormous and dense woodland, where rope bridges extend from branch to branch. Their home is one of constant change, a dreamy land of sleep where the sun is never high, the air is always cool, and the rustle of leaves on the wind is ever-present.
The fae of the Leaves are generally calm and collected—outsiders may say somber—with small groups of close friends with whom they share cups of coffee and tea over games of cards or dice. They are at home in the trees, invisible unless they wish to be seen, with a keen knowledge of every leaf, tree, and seed, every animal, every stream. Their artisanship is unmatched by the other Courts, and their homes are decorated with the fruits of their ongoing handiwork.
You are a guest of the Court of the Frozen Tower!
The Court of the Frozen Tower is, as the name suggests, contained within a twisting and titanic stone tower that seems to have grown from the center of a frozen lake, surrounded by windblown snowfields and constantly reaching towards a cold gray sky. Within its ever-shifting walls and behind its myriad doors are the fae realm’s foremost practitioners of the arcane.
The Frozen Tower is a place of magic, and its very structure reflects this. Rarely can a room be found in the same place twice. One may ascend a staircase every day and then suddenly find no trace that it was ever there at all. Though the lands surrounding the Tower are cold and barren, the tower itself is kept warm, golden with firelight, full of libraries, leather armchairs, and cozy nooks where one can get deep into the mysteries of an arcane tome or be immersed in a book for leisure.
