Time slows down in Burkhart's presence.
For some it's a curse, for others a blessing. He has a knack for forcing you to face the sides of yourself you'd been carefully avoiding, for better or worse. He uses his easy-going attitude to hide unpredictable moods, and won't hesitate to go for the throat in a fight if he feels he has been wronged.
Most of his days are spent napping in the temple's garden or tearing apart small animals he never fully consumes. He's occasionally been spotted ripping the growing skin off his tail while whining in pain.
Little is known about Burkhart's past before he became a guardian. It's unclear why he's been picked by Kernel himself for such an important task, and while some of Kernel's worshippers doubt his abilities, he has a perfect record and no one has gotten past his domain yet.
Amongst the guardians, Mathis probably is the most down to earth, all the while being a bit of a drama queen.
Living in the past, Mathis regrets every decision that led him to the present day, and often wishes he could start over. "If I knew what I know now, I don't think I would have left. Maybe I could have done something about it. Maybe I could have done something about it."
He sincerely enjoys others' presence all the while struggling to socialise for a long while. He needs people and he needs his space, often both at the same time. Overall, he's a bit of an anxious mess, and while he means well, his self-hatred sometimes comes out directed at others. He used to be different. If only he could go back.
Fenger is the life of the party, and often the one ending it
Reckless, noisy, always in search of the next high, he is known for his terrible decision making process (or lack thereof) and the disastrous consequences that often follow. Most guardians will tell you that he is not to be trusted, and that the only reason he's guarding the field is because The Void had to put him somewhere.
Believe it or not, Fenger was tasked with the surveilance and education of children before he became a guardian, and was rather good at it. Unfit for "all the grownup stuff" (his words), he's like a fish in water when it comes to understanding and communicating with simpler, blunter minds. He seems to soften up when he talks about them.
Intimidating at first sight, Kastl usually is a gentle creature.
Rarely seen by other than the person he picked to be in close circles, Kastl mostly wanders through the forest and lives in the moment. His days are spent following little critters around, looking at birds who fly by, and tending to injured wildlife.
Feard by most people, Kastl is often talked about as a bringer of Death, and is believed to be the source of many sufferings. He can often be spotted in a crowd right before tragedy hits.
Guardian without a task, he'll go above and beyond to protect those he loves.
Often overlooked, Bader often is the one holding shit together.
Without her, the world as we know it would surely collapse. Whether that makes her our savior or our curse is entirely up to you.
She has a job to do, and will carry out her tasks with focus and determination. Gentle in her manners, she can be ruthless with the poor souls who happen to be in her path, and there's no getting past the portals without her approval.
Her voice taken away by Kernel when he put her on the job, she decided to make the best of it and found solace in the cultists following her around from portal to portal. Patient and caring, she has been known to reach her limit once in a while and inflict terrible punishment on whoever find themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time.
He's not supposed to be here. He is not one of them. Not anymore.
What he did can't be undone.
Run.
