Over the summer months we all want to spend time enjoying the warmer weather, longer days & shorter nights.
However, as you know, this can lead to ‘tensions’ between households for a number of reasons so our neighbourhoods team have produced this quiz to help you decide what is ASB and what isn’t.
Is noise from children, parties/BBQ's or DIY ASB?

Noise nuisance is a regular disturbance that continues to be deemed unreasonable. In these summer months windows will be open and you will be able to hear more noise from inside your neighbours property, normal domestic noises are not ASB.
Are hate related incidents ASB?
YES
NO
Hate related incidents can involve race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender, age etc. and is ASB.
Is fly tipping ASB?
YES
NO
Large scale fly tipping is ASB.
Are bonfires or smoking outside in gardens ASB?
YES
NO
There are no time restrictions on bonfires or BBQs, therefore they are not ASB. Smoking outside is also not ASB, we would however advise not to smoke near a neighbour's open window and ensure that cigarette butts are disposed of properly.
Is drug dealing ASB?
YES
NO
Drug use, drug dealing, substance misuse, drug warrants and cannabis factories are all ASB.
Are children playing outside ASB?
YES
NO
In general children playing outside is not ASB. There are no time limits to when children should stop playing outside. Bouncing on trampolines and playing football in the street/on grassed areas is not ASB.
Are parking disputes ASB?
YES
NO
Not being able to park outside your home and inconsiderate parking is not ASB. There are also no limits to how many cars a household can have. Soha are also not able to deal with any complaints regarding vehicles parked on the public highway.
Is nuisance from drinkers/ drinking in public spaces ASB?
YES
NO
Nuisance from drinkers, drinking in public spaces and alcohol related violence are all considered ASB.
Is graffiti ASB?
YES
NO
Yes graffiti, criminal damage and vandalism are all considered ASB. We will react within 24 hours to any hate related graffiti.
Are social media disputes ASB?
YES
NO
General complaints about comments/photos/people on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. is not ASB. Social media issues should be reported to the individual platforms e.g. Facebook.
