It’s not trying to cause trouble, it’s probably just trying to cope with pent up energy and boredom. See if giving it plenty of walks and play will solve the problem.

What are the symptoms of separation anxiety?
Your dog is not aiming to misbehave, it’s trying to cope with its anxiety. Seek advice.
Destroying furniture and household items.
Digging holes in the garden.
Defecating or urinating in the house.
Self mutilation.
Howling or incessant barking.
Constant walking around
Excessive drooling.

Panting.
Scratching doors, and other signs that it wants to escape.
