An easy way to remember which way the clocks change is to think ‘spring forward' and 'fall back'.

On 5 November 1605, Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords. The plotters had intended to assassinate King James I and his parliament. Celebrating that the king had survived, people lit bonfires around London. Today, you'll find people marking this holiday with fireworks and bonfires.

A green leaf is green because of the presence of the pigment chlorophyll. It traps light energy to make food during photosynthesis. In late summer and autumn, when there's less daylight and it gets colder, the amount of chlorophyll in the leaf goes down and leaves turn from green to brown.

Other nicknames for these winged seeds include spinning jennies, whirligigs, whirlybirds and wing-nuts. And in the botanical world, they're known as samaras.
