Could You Foster with CFC?
Answer a few simple questions about your home, heart and lifestyle to discover that you might be closer to being an ideal foster carer than you first imagined!
Do you currently have a spare room in your home where a young person could stay?
It's a requirement for fostering to be able to be able to provide a young person a space that can be their own. A personal space provides security, privacy, a place to study, play, and feel safe, especially for children who have experienced trauma!
Do you live in any of the following UK counties: Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Lancashire or Cumbria?
Community Foster Care operates out of these areas specifically. If you are in a different county, but still live within an hour's drive from either our Gloucester or Lancaster offices, mention it when you contact us and we'll be able to assess the logistics. If not, we recommend contacting your Local Authority or researching other agencies that operate in your area specifically.
Are you happy to use Zoom and Microsoft Teams to occasionally attend meetings and carer training?
Part of being a foster carer with CFC involves hopping online for video calls for training and support groups, so a level of comfort with those platforms (or at least happiness to learn if you're not used to them) is ideal.
Are you currently over the age of 21?
There is no upper age limit to being a foster carer, but you do have to be over 21 to be considered.
Are you willing to be a steady, caring presence for a young person during a difficult time in their life?
One of the most important requirements of all! For many young people in foster care, having a steady and caring adult in their lives can be one of the most powerful influences on their wellbeing and development.
