2019 Postdoc Appreciation Week

Since 2009, the National Postdoc Association has sponsored National Postdoc Appreciation Week to recognize and raise awareness of the significant contributions that postdocs make to scientific research and discovery.

2019 Postdoc Appreciation Week

This year, Gladstone celebrated its postdoc community with a week of teambuilding and professional development activities.

2019 Postdoc Appreciation Week
The week kicked off with the Free the PhD Career Exploration Workshop, led by Vay Cao, founder of Free the PhD.

In this workshop, postdocs were able to explore various career options.

Postdocs walked away with an understanding of how to dissect almost every kind of job, helping them to identify positions that align with their interests, personality, and skill sets.

Postdocs also learned how improv could improve their communication skills.

Improv for communication uses techniques drawn from improvisational theater to develop and improve communication skills, creative problem solving, and supportive teamwork abilities that can be beneficial for collaboration, mentoring, day-to-day conversations, presentations, or job searches.

This interactive workshop was led by UCSF Improv.
